As mentioned in our product description, if you will be using our product with PayPal, you need to have PayPal’s Payments Pro with Virtual Terminal (need both which are typically bundled as ONE (1) account together) or a PayFlow Pro account.
You must have one of those accounts to be able to process credit cards using a computer with PayPal as the processor.
If you do not have one of these accounts and want to use our solution with PayPal, please call our customer service line at 224-677-0283 to find out how to get set up with these accounts quickly and easily.
Important EMV Chip Card Reader Information
Keep in mind that while we created this swipe solution for these merchant accounts, these Merchant Account Systems were designed as, and have always been, manual entry (not card present) systems.
Because of that they are not able to handle encrypted data from a Chip Card Reader as they are expecting non-encrypted data that would have normally been typed in through a computer keyboard.
Our system merely takes the non-encrypted data that is on the magnetic strip located on the back of a credit card (even a chip card) and sends it through to the merchant processing company (PayPal / PayFlow / Stripe) just as if someone was reading and typing that identical data off the credit card.
Even though you may be using our Magnetic Card Reader to swipe a credit or debit card to grab the Card #, Name and Expiration date, the data is being sent to PayPal through the PayPal "Payments Pro" or PayFlow Pro" Gateways as if you were merely typing the data through a website and PayPal is still processing the transaction as a "Card Not Present" Website transaction.
According to published information, Website Card Not Present Transactions are exempt from the the fraud liability issues related to EMV chip card transactions. (you should check with your PayPal Account Representative if you have any additional quesitons regarding this)
Magnetic strips will continue to be on the back of credit cards for some years to come so you will still be able to use this system with PayPal even as the new EMV chip cards are distributed.

We will never tell you not to get an EMV compatible credit card processing solution; it just is not compatible with this PayPal Swipe Processing System for computers.
For our USA customers, we will be coming out with a computer swipe EMV Chip Card Reader and Corresponding Merchant Account Program Shortly – but they will not work with PayPal.

CREDIT CARD PROCESSING SAFETY
With liability for fraudulent transactions being shifted more to the businesses who accept credits cards, it is more important than ever to practice proper credit card handling as described below:
1) With any system processing credit cards through a computer / tablet / smartphone we always recommend a wired secure direct internet connection or secure password protected Wi-Fi internet connection (not public) when processing any payments as well as smart handling of any credit card data (i.e.: not writing down credit card information on paper etc.)
It has been shown that even the new chip cards can be hacked by a person standing behind you with a special scanner to read the chip data. (you may have seen recent TV commercials selling protective wallets to block scanners – but the minute a person takes their card from the wallet, they may be potentially vulnerable to having their credit card data stolen)
2) We also recommend verifying a customer (when a credit card is handed to you) by checking their Driver’s License picture and Signature with the Signature on the back of the credit card to verify that the person handing you the card is in fact the same person.
3) Make sure to get a signed receipt with a signature that matches the one on the driver’s license.
(For #2 and 3) These practices are highly recommended and were basically required years ago but for some reason are no longer practiced – BUT SHOULD BE!
We HIGHLY recommend following all these procedures.
Also - Our software automatically dumps all credit card data once the transaction is processed. If you have any invoices in our software that do not get processed, please delete them immediately.
